Our Story

Dr. Shelja Nagpal’s journey to becoming an Ayurvedic doctor was marked by relentless dedication and an unwavering commitment to wellness. After years of study, she found herself battling severe hair fall, a consequence of stress, hard water, and various other factors. Her once long, shiny hair had significantly thinned, and despite trying countless hair oils, spa treatments, and even cutting, nothing seemed to work.

As an aspiring Ayurvedic doctor, Dr. Shelja turned to the market’s so-called Ayurvedic and herbal oils. To her dismay, she discovered that many of these products were misleading, filled with refined oils, mineral oils and traces of herbal essence marketed as Ayurvedic. The realization that Ayurveda’s true essence was being diluted by false advertising deeply hurt her.

She knew that something had to be done to restore faith in this ancient science. Fueled by a profound sense of purpose, Dr. Shelja made a bold decision. She turned down a coveted government job and instead seek her mother’s support & blessings toembark on a mission to create an authentic and effective hair fall control oil.

Her journey was not easy. Working more than 18 hours a day, she meticulously tested 166 different formulations, determined to perfect the process. Dr. Shelja adhered to the authentic Ksheer Pak method, a labour-intensive process that involved herbal decoction is made by extracting herbs in water over low heat for 48 hours to make kadha, then combining it with herbal juices, and infusing it all in milks with various oils and herbs. This process took 24 hours a day for 8 consecutive days, with her mother waking up early before work to help her daughter.

Through love, dedication, and unwavering honesty, Dr. Shelja and her mother finally perfected the hair fall control oil, and Emlyn Beauty was born. We chose "Emlyn," a Sanskrit word meaning pure and unadulterated reflecting the love and purity of a mother’s care. But Emlyn Beauty is more than just a brand. For Dr.Shelja, every person struggling with hair fall is not just a customer—they are a patient in need. Like any dedicated doctor, her primary concern is the wellness of her patients, not profit.
